German Shepherd

They’re highly intelligent & capable working dogs. Alsatians excel at most anything they’re trained to do be it guide, assistance work, police-military work etc

Rhodesian Ridgeback

The African Lion-Hound is a very athletic dog, with great endurance quite known for a dignified temperament and very devoted to its family(kids included. Need lots of space_ huntinggrounds 🙂

Belgian Malinois

The Malinois has an elegant robustness,  hardy dog & is accustomed to living outdoors. It has a natural tendency to be in motion, a quick agile dog. They excel not only in herding but also protection, law enforcement, therapy, search & rescue, tracking, sledding etc . Its a very smart and obedient dog & needs a loving & committed owner & family. It goes without saying that a good amount of exercises/tasks/training will do.

 

Australian Cattle Dog

The Blue Heeler

An extremely sturdy breed, known for herding &  thrive on having something to do & being part of family activities. The Blue Heeler does well at canine sports & also need a lot of physical activity & mental stimulation/challenges. These faithful friends are not considered aggresive as such an excellent fit for families. They’re however  wary of outsiders

Cane Corso

The Italian Mastiff ,descends from large Roman war dogs. Originally bred  to hunt wild boar and today acts as a guard dog. The Cane Corso is a  working  dog who absolutely loves having a job/task to do . This is a powerful athletic  breed best suited to experienced parents. “the Protector”

German Short Pointer (GSP)

If you can provide this dog with the mental & physical challenges they crave, they’ll be your best four-legged friend. Not suitable for those who live in apartments or spend lots of time away, it could lead to destructive behaviours.

Great Dane

The oh so Gentle Giant, in reality one of the best natured dogs around. For all their size GD are affectionate and gentle with children.

Weimaraner

The Silver/Gray Ghost

Originally bred as a gundog to handle big game like dear & bear, today these elegant  dogs make fine family companions. They need to get enough exercise due to their hunting heritage they have lots of energy which equal lots of space. Pick him/her up a fetch toy to burn off the energy. Known for their loyalty which makes a good family pet. #lovetogivestandinghugs 🙂

 

Chow Chow

Teddy-bear, has an independent spirit some describe as catlike. They’re a fiercely loyal companion, devoted & protective of their family. Need a good amount of exercise.

 

Dobberman Pinscher

Originating in Germany, bred as guard dogs which they do seamlessly. Pinschers have an athletic build, regal aristocratic appearance. They’re die hard lovers to their owners & are super smart & energtic also nneding plenty of play ground.

Rottweiler

We talk power we talk Rottweiler. Bred to drive cattle to market & to pull carts for butchers. Rotties are very self-assured, fearless dogs, need experienced care. Loving, consistent pet parents will find a loving, faithful, intelligent friend for life in a Rottie also a good guard dog.

Boxer

If you’re looking for a high-energy easy to groom, family-friendly pooch then this might just be the breed for you. Square-jawed, handsome/pretty, muscular, they still retain their high energy and need plenty of exercise in their routine. Golden Retriever

Popular for a good reason, fun-loving attitude & signature smile, eager to please, easy to train, brilliant family pet, very capable intelligent breed. Live up to their name #loveretrieving, skilled service dog loves agility events and a good exercise.

 

Saint Bernard

Historically helped to find & save lost & injured travelers. Today SBs enjoy the comforts of  family life, very affectionate & if you don’t mind a bit of drool you’ll find them to be loving companions. Of course they can flex in weight pulling (a cart/wagon).  Remember they get big very fast :), Saints do not like being left alone they’re attached to people more than other dogs & respond well to positivity. SBs shed a lot so plan to vacuum regularly.

Siberian Husky

The appeal of this breed_ the wolf look-alike, facial masks, multitude of colors & markings, multi-colored/blue eyes need l say more . The Husky is an athletic, intelligent dog which can act independently. Huskies also put the ‘H’ in Houdini & so need a yard with a high enough fence that goes to the ground to prevent escapes #shesarunnershesatrackstar. #Microchip  Other than that they’re super alert, friendly & loyal with a pack mentality. SBs have remarkable skills in replicating the sounds of humans & fantastic emotional support dogs.

Shetland Sheepdog

It’s in the name, SS stood as guard for farmers in the Shetland Islands. SS served as herding dogs and today they’re excellent family companions. Shelties are smart, affectionate, a good family dog with their pleasing personality. It’s good to keep them stimulated with tasks/training/exercise. They at times  do not do well in an environment with loud noises, frequent tension & rough housing.

Labrador Retriever

Labs are good-natured  hardworking as their ancestors. Labs can work a variety of canine jobs like search & rescue, hunters, assistance dogs, show competitors etc and it speaks of their intelligence. They adapt well to apartment living also make time for their exercises and walks often. Kid-friendly, dog-friendly, friendly towards strangers

Swiss Shepherd

A close cousin of the German Shepherd. Swiss  are generally described as a more mellow and less highly strung dog which can only add to its appeal. Under-exercised Swiss can be hyperactive/destructive so take time to do high energy tasks & exercises. They’re relatively calm  dogs which make good family pets.

 

Border Collie

A remarkably bright workaholic one of the most intelligent breeds around. These energetic dogs will settle don for cuddle time when the workday is done. They are very athletic sheepdogs. The overall look is that of a muscular but nimble worker, with a smooth coat which comes in a variety of colors and patterns. They are the most agile, intelligent durable dog citizens,amiable with friends and may be reserved with strangers.

Boerboel

These gigantic protectors were bred to help farmers in South Africa defend their homesteads from hyenas, lions and all manner of deadly wildlife while also providing invaluable companionship at the same time. The Boerboel gets its name from Dutch/Afrikaans words that roughly translates to farmer’s dog. If you’re interested in adopting a Boerboel make sure you’re ready for the challenge and you’ll be rewarded with a loyal protective friend for life.
